About me

I'm Tony Rouse.

I have spent the last fourteen years in accounting and finance, and I started this practice to help owners like you get where you are trying to go. When you succeed, everyone around you does, and the fastest way I can help is to take this off your plate. That's why I started a bookkeeping and business consulting practice. I'm based in Des Moines, and I work with clients everywhere.

Tony Rouse

In my fourteen years, I have served as a controller, director of finance, manager, auditor and bookkeeper. If it's in accounting, I have probably done it. I have spent most of my time on the FP&A side doing financial modeling, reporting, budgeting and leading teams to deliver results, serving as a fractional CFO. I'm a CPA (currently inactive), and I also teach Principles of Accounting at Des Moines Area Community College, so I can make a complex subject easy to understand.

Rouse Consulting exists because of a gap I kept running into. You can hire someone to record your transactions, do it yourself, or bring someone in to interpret or fix them after the fact. That gap is where things go wrong for a lot of owners, and it's where I come in.

So I work in three stages. Get the books right, set the standard so they stay right every month, and then put the numbers to work on the decisions in front of you. That last part is where I find the most excitement with clients, and it is the reason the first two matter.

Get the books right. Set the standard. Put the numbers to work.
